Crafting Mental Wellness Apps: UI/UX Case Study (Sehat.In)

Introduction

Right off the bat, this case study was created as part of Bootcamp Ui/Ux Design by Rakamin Academy the design process is carried out according to the mentor’s direction from day to day.


"Sehat.in: Recognize, Care, Heal Together"


Overview

SehatIN is a comprehensive mental health application designed to support individuals in maintaining their mental well-being. This application features a community platform, online and offline consultation facilities, meditation features, and access to the latest articles on mental health.


Background

Despite growing awareness and efforts to address mental health, there remains a significant global burden of mental health conditions, with nearly 1 billion people living with a mental disorder as of 2019. Depression is a leading cause of disability worldwide, and suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated mental health issues, increasing both anxiety and depressive disorders by more than 25% in the first year alone. Urgent action is needed to address the stigma, inadequate resources, and barriers to care that persist.

Findings

Mental health is influenced by a variety of factors including individual, social, and structural elements. Effective mental health strategies require a multi-sectoral approach focusing on promotion, prevention, and community-based care. The WHO highlights the importance of integrating mental health services into general healthcare systems and empowering those with lived experiences to combat stigma and improve access to care. Comprehensive strategies, as outlined in the WHO’s "Comprehensive Mental Health Action Plan 2013–2030," are crucial for strengthening mental health governance and support systems worldwide..


Solution

Sehat.in ( Sehat.in is a mental health app with a sleek, intuitive design, offering quick access to stress and anxiety management tools. Enhance your well-being anytime, anywhere with personalized experiences and professional support ).

1.The community feature allows users to write a post that can be read by other users.Users can hide their identities using the anonymous feature to maintain their profiles.Some bots and moderators monitor the posts and conversations happening within the posts.

2.The consultation feature allows users to make appointments with professional psychologists.Users can choose counseling methods such as chat,call,video call as well as offline counseling for direct consultation.


Research 📝

After making a research plan, we conducted a user interview session to explore the problem in detail and identify its underlying cause. Before conducting the interview session, we prepared a set of research questions that we wanted to discuss with each participant.


In-Depth Interview 🧐

Individuals who are male or female, aged 18-35, whether students, employed, or unemployed, residing in Indonesia, and experiencing issues that affect their mental health have likely participated in either online or offline counseling sessions.


Procedure ✍🏼

  • Introduce ourself and explain the purpose of the interview.

  • Ask questions systematically and in-depth.

  • Thank the interviewee for their time.

  • Convey the next steps and how the information will be used.

  • Review the interview results to identify key themes and insight.

With the data collected from the research phase, we created a user persona representing the optimal user of the application. This help us arrive at better solution as it gave in-depth understanding of user goals and frustration.

A user flow is a visual representation for the user to map out each and every step take from entry point right through the final point. user flow helped us to understand how the user navigates through the app, what decisions they can possibly make and with that in mind make the entire user experience a wholistic one.

Lo-fi ( Wireframe )

The next step we a rough framework commonly called a wireframe. In making wireframes we also found that several iterations were carried out, and some of these iterations were immediately poured into hi-fi and were not re-documented in wireframes.


Style Guide

Before starting in making hi-fi we made a style guide for a system design so that it can help hi-fi design be more flexible, fast, and remain consistent.


Hi-fi ( User Interface ) 📱

Hi-Fi: Each pixel is a notation of visual harmony. Every display is a work of art. Welcome to the era of unforgettable user experiences. And I’m using Figma to develop Hi-Fi.


Testing

After making lofi and hifi, we then carried out usability testing on the prototype we had made.A product before being launched must be tested first on the user, with testing it can help the product achieve a result that is close to what the company wants from a business perspective and in terms of usability for users.And User Testing this time I use Maze for validate design.

And we have 3 task for testing and 5 participant.

and after we did user testing, we got feedback and felt that it was necessary to do design iterations on the hifi that was made.


Iteration Design

Repetition method because it can make the design better and know what kind of design the user needs and also there are limitations in this iteration because the user has no limit to how many iterations the process is done.

What i learned?

I feel grateful to be able to take part in the ui/ux design bootcamp from rakamin which helped me in my early journey of learning what ui/ux design is and the ui/ux design process.

And I just found out that in making a product project it is very important to do research first to validate business and user needs so that the product can approach the goal.
